Rename the Registered Name in XP System Properties

A PC name represents that PC to others on same network. If its location, purpose or primary user has changed, it may be handy to reset the name of PC. If PC uses the Windows XP, change its registered name by accessing the System Properties window.

• Go to "Start".

• Step 2

Go to "Settings."

• Step 3

Go to "Control Panel."

• Step 4

Under Category View, click "Switch to Classic View". Under the Classic View, the background will be white in color except the sidebar.

• Step 5

Go to "System".

• Step 6

Select "processor Name"..

• Step 7

Hit "Change".

• Step 8

Type preferred computer name under top textbox.

• Step 9

Hit "OK."

• Step 10

A message will come up saying "You must restart this computer for the changes to take effect." Hit "OK."

• Step 11

Hit "OK".

• Step 12

Finally, reboot.
