Living in a rural community can be frustrating due to the lack of access to high speed Internet services. However, due to the development in satellite technology, it is possible to take advantage from high speed Internet almost everywhere. Here are some tips on installing a satellite Internet system on the roof.

How to Install Satellite Internet on a Roof

1. Step 1

Decide if installing a 1way or 2 way Internet satellite system. A 1 way system operates by receiving the inward traffic from the satellite and sending outgoing Internet traffic from the typical telephone line. A 2 way system enables higher broadcast speeds as the outgoing traffic will also be processed by the satellite.

2. Step 2

After deciding to have a 2 way system, use the services of a professional satellite Internet system installer. FCC policy needs a certified installer must install 2 way systems as the 2 way satellite has a transmitter. In most cases, the suppliers of the satellite Internet service should offer basic installation services at no cost.

3. Step 3

Install the satellite at least 5 feet over the floor as may be needs by FCC policy if the satellite has a transponder. Mount the satellite safely to the roof surface, facing south. Make sure that the southern vantage of the satellite is open. Do not tighten the satellite's rotation mechanism as you will probably require to later setting the satellite till it is calibrated completely.

4. Step 4

Install a coaxial wire jack in the room where the system will be placed. Connect and route the required number of coaxial wires from the jack to the dish.

5. Step 5

Attach jack to modem, and modem to PC and use the application to set the satellite properly. This might be a difficult as it might be intended at a satellite orbiting above 20,000 miles over Earth. After the satellite is calibrated, secure the rotation mechanism in place to not to loose connectivity.
