A DSL is used to connect a PC to net using phone service. A special modem is used to interpret digital signals of phone service supplier in information that PC can use to interact with other PCs over Internet. A typical DSL modem has only 1 Ethernet connection port. For multiple PCs to use the DSL Internet, a DSL router can be installed. A DSL router enables the connection of multiple PCs to the DSL service.
Step 1
Insert one side of the phone line in the phone jack. Insert other side of the phone line in the "Telephone" or "DSL" slot of the DSL modem. Insert one side of one of the CAT5 network line in "Network" slot of the DSL modem. Insert the other side of that wire in "Uplink" slot of the DSL router.
Step 2
Insert one side of the other Category-5 network wire in PCs network adapter card. Insert other side of that wire in one of the open slots on the DSL router.
Step 3
Test DSL modem should have "Connection/Activity/Traffic," or a something similar. Test DSL router flashing indicator lights, labeled "Connection/Traffic/Activity," or something similar. If both of these conditions are filled, the router is connected successfully.
