Linksys is amongst main producers of house and office networking products like routers, wireless home audio, VOIP and internet modems. Linksys routers are reasonable and easy to set up. Routers enable the user to share their Internet connection with multiple PC and other wireless devices. All Linksys routers provide security features that must be configured after installing wireless router. Adding security insures access to limited users.
• Double click Internet Explorer iocn. Enter IP address in address bar. This brings up an administration box prompting user name and password. Leave user name box empty and type "Admin" in password section. Hit "OK." This opens the Linksys Wireless Router configuration page.
• Click on "Wireless.” and then click "Wireless Security."
• Click "WEP". WEP is a secure and suits the latest wireless devices as well.
• Click "128 bits 26 hex digits" for WEP encryption box. Type a password and select "Generate." The Linksys router will produce 4 26-digit keys. It is vital to note down these down these keys to access router.
• Type first 26-digit password in box when asked. Enter it once as it will save automatically. Select "Save Changes."
• Select "Administration". Reset password if required to access the configuration page next time.
• Select "Save Changes" and exit. Devices to connect to wireless will have to type key first 26-digit password.
