Dial-up internet access can be very slow. There are certain settings that can tweak inside XP that allows speeding up the dial-up Internet access to browsing and downing content quickly.

• Log in as manager.

• Go to Control Panel and find Network Connections. Right click on modem and go to Properties.

• On General tab, reset Maximum Speed to 115200 and uncheck "Only connect at this speed." This enables modem to connect at its maximum speed or lower
speeds.

• Go to Connection, and make sure that Data Bits is set to eight, the number of Stop Bits set to one and Parity setting is none. Click Port Settings, and set Receive Buffer's slider position to High.

• Close Port Settings, and select Advanced. Change Modulation Type to Standard, and check Use Flow Control, User Error Control and Compress Data, and uncheck Required To Connect setting.

• Select OK, and reboot PC. Then dial Internet connection and test connectivity speed. You might have to redial few times to het the bets speed.
