Making a wireless Internet connection out of a dial-up connection can be a hard task, as most standard components that were used to create wireless dial-up connections are no longer generated. With the help of an online auction website, and some knowledge in how this kind of hardware works, however, you can put together own dial-up wireless connection.

• Buy a router that is well-suited with a dial-up modem. These can be hard to find if turning to an online auction site. Buy a router that has a RS232 port integrated it that supports a modem connection.

• Run a phone cord between router and a phone wall jack. Insert one side of the cord in the RS232 port on router, and insert the other side in the wall jack. Connect the router to PCs modem port, and switch on the power to PC and to router.

• Connect to dial-up Internet service as normally, and select a reliable number for long-term connections. After connecting to Internet, go to Control Panel in Windows.

• Find dial-up connection in Network Connections, right click dial-up connection and go to Properties. Select Advanced tab, and check "Share this computer's Internet connection with other computers."

• Configure wireless settings on router, if required, so that it is visible to PCs that want to connect wirelessly. This procedure varies according to the producer, so check router user manual for tips. After the wireless signal is configured, access Internet from the wireless connection.
