Accessing other PC on LAN or Internet is very simple using an application integrated in Windows operating system. Windows Remote Desktop makes logging in to other PC possible and very easy, and Windows filesharing makes sharing and exchanging files on local area connection too.
Remote Desktop Access
• Start your computer and right click "My Computer" and go to "Properties," then select "Remote". Check "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" box.
• Log in to PC. Open "Run" and enter "mstsc".
• In the screen, type IP address of PC to connect to, and then type username and password for that PC. Then you’ll be connected to remote PC, and will be able to control it from your place.
Filesharing Access
• Login to PC having files to access and right click the folder to access, and go to "Properties."
• Select "Sharing", and then click "Share this folder on the network." Select a share name for folder, and select "Apply," and "OK."
• Right click "My Computer". Open Windows Explorer on your PC, and enter the PC name, followed by folder, in following manner: \\COMPUTER_NAME\FOLDER_SHARE_NAME
