Disabling a Wired Connection From a Desktop PC
A lot of latest PCs have multiple network adapters. It is well-known to upgrade desktop PCs by adding a wireless network adapter after buying a PC. If PC has multiple network connection, deactivate the unwanted cabled connection to prevent conflicts between network adapters.
• Open "Start".
• Open "Control Panel."
• Open "Network Connections" on Windows 2000 or XP. On Vista or 7, open "Network and Sharing Center," then select "Manage Network Connections."
• Right click on unused cabled connection and select "Disable." Right click the connection and select "Enable" in future if planning to turn it on in future.
