If having a MacBook, and your files are all on old iMac. Connecting 2 PCs is very easy.
• Connect 2 PCs using Ethernet cable. Put one side of cable in correct port on first PC; next, put other side in correct port on other PC. Ensure that cable is placed firmly.
• Assign one PC as "server." One of 2 PCs will have to be server or main PC. PC containing files to import should be set as server. To o dos pull up "System preferences". Click "Sharing."
• Choose the options to share. "Sharing" menu brings up various choices for connecting 2 PCs. This option can be anything from sharing files to remotely use CD or DVD drive on a different PC.
• Note down local network name. Second PC will require local address of server PC to connect. This address is shown at top of "Sharing".
• Connect second PC. Click on desktop on second PC to activate "Finder". Select "Go". Click "Connect to Server." Type local network name. Both PCs will be connected now.
