Netgear WGR614 is a wireless router famous for low price, long operating range and great performance. It is the most suitable routers created for wireless Internet connection due to its quality speed and simle installation. Like other router, Netgear WGR614 also has problems, and need to be fixed to make sure incessant connection.

Issues

• Problem during installation, slower router performance and connection failure because of overheating are common problems. Problems involving router installation may have to deal with owner's use of outdated drivers, whereas slow router performance can be traced to issues with wireless standards.

Troubleshooting

• While troubleshooting problems in, first check is network settings. While attempting to connect to Internet first time, router would show pop-up box that would guide user for rest of the installation process, and from there user would be able to modify PC settings to be same as router.

Authentication

• One problem about Netgear WGR614 is that it does not register its authentication settings with Windows SP1 automatically. They have to go to Properties of Wireless Networks. Click on "Authentication", and untick "Enable IEEE 802.x authentication."

Connectivity

• If PC cannot connect to Internet and receives an IP address, user would have to renew IP address by going to "Start," then "Run" and entering "ipconfig/release" then pressing "Enter." On prompt, enter "ipconfig/renew" to get new address.

• Netgear has launched latest versions of WGR614, download and install it to make sure optimum router performance. Knowing router's settings is easy, not for editing router's configuration settings on PC, but also same information would be prompted by company's technical support team in case user calls for help.
