Default Is it Me? or Network difficult repels really slowly?

I lately bought a WD Mybook network hard repel, (Blue Circle) , i am already disturb that it has no ftp capacities, but another matter i detected was that its transfer rates are real slowly. Dragging the 1st set of video files and dropping them just to consider it was going to accept about 10-12 minutes for an appx 1 Gig file transfer.

I try understanding up a small bit and im detecting its a NAS repel, does this have anything to do with the speed? continually ive downloaded files quicker, and i ve shipped files done my local network at blazing speeds definitely quicker than this.
Is the network repel im guessing or wanting out of grasps, or even lives?i was guessing of even putting one together with an enclosure and a 7200rpm 1tb drive.
    Thanks for any input.

Consumer NAS repels are pretty slow but they should be a bit quicker than that now. I have an previous 1 that only gets about 4MB a sec. transfer (so it would have taken about 5 minutes for a 1 gig file). The newer ones I have, including a MyBook Live, get in the 12-14 MB transfer range. I have a gigabit router and network switches.USB inputs for extra storage I have detected to be actually slowly, like 1MB/sec transfer.

Peer to peer or server transfer is quicker but I don't know why your NAS seems additional slowly. They build well servers normally once the information is there but if you deal with big continuous video transfers you may want something more along the lines of an old computer you designate as a server.

This is what I utilize [made from pulled parts] with 2 big hard repels. Over the wired network, it transfers pretty quick; wireless is not all that quick however however quick enough to use the shared repel to set up software on a netbook.
