Default What is the direction to update DRAC without vFlash.

Guys I am having Dell laptop and Dell notebooks have an port card which recognize as IDRAC(Dell Remote Access Controller), it owns processor, network connection, and access to the machine bus. As we it’s main characteristics are like power management, remote console capabilities and virtual media access. I desire to upgrade DRAC utilizing common internet file systems (CIFS) on LAN, please suggest me to update DRAC step by step minus vFlash.

Dude that depends on the machine you are having, as on the 11g systems simplest method is utilizing platform update function in USC. And you can’t update the IDRAC while you are utilizing virtual media since IDRAC will reset during the flash. Since you are doing it minus vFlash, First remote into the drac and then you have to operate individual update packages by hitting your share from the Indows or the Linux.

Well thanks a lot buddy for such a fast responds , my machine is Dell R710 with IDRAC Enterprise minus vFlash. I guess I have to update our customer server above a remote connection and that too minus communicating with the clients. That’s why I am not capable to utilize USB stick choice and I will not do this by FTP from the Dell site. That’s why I desire to utilize CIFS method from USC or vis Remote medis i.e. IDRAC site.

Mate I don't have much exercise on this, but yet I have single answer you can give it a try, let me tell you what I have tested. First, I login into IDRAC and begin the USC above the remote connection. And after that utilizing cifs choice started platform update.but safty that I don’t what to gives a xml file, exe file, iso file.but for just it’s not possible for me to introduce a connection with file share utilizing USC.

Well mate on share you must have repository of files and commonly it would be the Server Update Utility (SUU). If you don’t have it then download SUU 6.5 and place the extracted file from that iso to your cifs share. in USC, later on choosing cifs your share identity will be like \\systemname\fshare. ‘fshare’ is just for instance suppose you call the share ‘fshare’. If you having few problem in domain name then try to not to utilize the domain identity.

Hey guys thanks a lot for your support, I have posted this query on the Dell web site and on the any other forums but nobody responded to my queries. Now I am able to update the computer in entire remote locations minus interaction with third persons, and yeah entire of these are OS independent.
