Having PC that rejects to boot frequently signifies problem with hard drive. When PC is unable to boot from drive itself, you must help it on its way with "boot disk" disk having necessary files to boot to MS-DOS OS. After you have that, you enable to run utility known as Checkdisk, allowing troubleshooting and potentially repairing drive problems.

Step 1


Download free "Checkdisk" program for MS-DOS.

Step 2

Put in MS-DOS boot disk and start machine.

Step 3

Press any key when specified to boot from disk, which take you to command line prompt in MS-DOS

Step 4

Put in disk having "Checkdisk" program.

Step 5

Type in "X:" and hit "Enter".

Step 6

Type in "chkdsk X: /f" and hit "Enter". This will start automatic disk checking process. Checkdisk will then repair any problems that repaired on hard drive.
