Sometime, Windows Vista broken by viruses, spyware, and user error. If you notice that you have many problems to troubleshoot separately, reformatting Vista computer is best choice. Before reformatting hard drive, back up all files and software applications. You want to reinstall any programs that are not bundled with Windows Vista and restore preferences and personal files after reformatting PC and reinstalling Vista.
Instructions
Step 1
Back up all of data. Save backup on external media, like external hard drive, USB flash drive or CD/DVD.
Step 2
Put in Windows Vista installation disk.
Step 3
Reboot PC.
Step 4
Reorganize BIOS to boot from CD first if Windows Vista boots usually after putting in installation disk and restarting. Find these settings in BIOS "Boot" options.
Step 5
Press any key to enter in Windows Vista setup.
Step 6
Select "Custom" installation.
Step 7
Click on main partition. This must be "C:\" drive on Disk 0. Click "Next."
