As you empty the Trash, all folders are removed. With compost, you able to do sorting and not empty folders. Trash volume of your selection. If you don’t want to totally empty Recycle Bin, so you can’t empty it only partly. It is handy when there are many files in Trash, but that doesn’t essentially all empty, for safety reasons.

Also set size limit on Trash. If there are many files in trash other are deleted mechanically. This helps to leave space on drive. Compost also presents other interesting characteristics safe removal of files, information on content of Trash contextual menu or menu in menu bar to handle Recycle Bin, etc.

By compost you can’t make sorting, but also automate emptying Trash. By settings in it you can set individual emptying various volumes. In compost set settings in default tab. Then re-set volumes despite tab Settings per disc. It is good utility for MAC trash and accessible also.
