I want to check whether my computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows OS. I am not computer savvy. How I check it?? Any idea would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Windows Vista
If you are Windows Vista user, there are 2 methods to find out whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version. If one does not work, try another method.
View System window in Control Panel
1. Click Start, type system in the Start Search box, and after that click on system in the Programs list.
2. The OS is showed as follows:
* For a 64-bit version OS: 64-bit Operating System come into view for the System type under System.
* For a 32-bit version OS: 32-bit Operating System come into view for the System type under System.
View System Information window
1. Click Start, type system in the Start Search box, and after that click on System Information in the Programs list.
2. When System Summary is chosen in the navigation pane, the OS is showed as follows:
* For a 64-bit version OS: x64-based computer appears for the System type under system.
* For a 32-bit version OS: x86-based computer appears for the System type under system.
Windows XP
If you are Windows XP user, here is method to find out whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version.
View System Properties in Control Panel
1. Click Start, click on Run, and then Type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
2. Click the General tab. The OS is showed as follows:
* For a 64-bit version OS: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> comes under System.
* For a 32-bit version OS: Windows XP Professional Version<Year> comes under System.
