If you have the primary install media. attempt a repair install , it looks like it may be a instance of booting into the command prompt and manually copying the file in.

I had to solve this problem on my in laws computer. not to set you off, but it actually sucks. I will acquire into the nitty brave when I have time to detect all the resources again, but here is the burden of what I had to do to solve it: Boot from the windows XP Install CDs.

Interrupt a 5GB partition at the end of the drive. Install a fresh repeating of windows XP on this partition. change hidden file view, attend your other C: drive, and find the hidden system restore point folders Copy the registry & system restore files from the restore point to the Windows folder.

Looks like a partition problem. rescaling a partition in windows XP can be a large problem. I was utilizing EASUS partition master while it occurred to me.*

Can you decently explicate what's the problem when this kind of problem occurs with you will not be capable to acquire K:\ to be C:\ without a fresh installing would remove the former C:\, reinstall to the new drive to get that one C:\ at that level you could put the old drive back into the system if you select.
