Default File security Systems for Laptops on windows

Hi all, I've been asked to see into document security machine for laptops, but to be honest, this subject and google don't look to fill me with confidence... theres so much protection stuff out there that who to trust is a big matter, so I think I'd ask here and may be somebody with few real world experience of this could assist out.

Essentially, a client has bought few latest laptops (Asus), and my boss has a "file vault" on his Acer which "view up as an addtional drive letter when you unlock it with a password". And we're wondering if theres anything out there "off the shelf" that would do the similar type of thing we can set up on the latest laptops?

Preferably few large names so as to have a sense of protection, but I just don't recognize where to start appearing. Any assistness is appreciated.

Truecrypt is a good respected open source edition of the similar thing. If I think the names of the commercial stuff I've seen earlier I shall edit/update. I have utilized Bestcrypt nice as it operate across platform. Few edition of windows have Bitlocker which will encrypt your machine hard drive, so windows will not still boot minus the password. This would be better for laptop, still you require to make sure individual turn the there laptops off/hibernate them instade than suspending them.

I have utilized PGP Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) earlier and its a better product (at least the enterprise edition is, the desktop edition as it has no central management can be a PITA to manage) .Another vote for total disk encryption below PGP.

Preserve making sure that any secure information is stored under encryption, instade than individual forgetting to preserve it in the directory.

And I assume that your Internet Explorer / Firefox, of course, on your hardware firewall to get Internet access. And now what if the Trojans a Process Injection in IE / Firefox / whatever makes and communicates through port 80 to the outside? A firewall is only one black box and does not protect against everything - just for info. And here I would give my right speakers, installation is the safest unkd best decision!
