Other World Computing (OWC) currently launches the Mercury Pro 12x Blu-ray writer, which is based on Pioneer BDR-205 burner. Based on Oxford 934DSB chipset, the Mercury Pro 12x presents four interfaces, with two FireWire 800 ports, a FireWire 400, an eSATA along with a USB 2.0.

The burner writes single layer as well as double layer BD-R at a speed of up to 12x as well as BD-RE at 2x. It also writes a DVD+/-R at a speed of up to 16X, DVD-RAM at 5x as well as CD-R/RW at 40x. It acquires 8MB of buffer memory.
