Formatting or reformatting PC hard drive can be needed if you are setting up new PC, refreshing damage hard disk or installing new OS. The procedure is quite easy, but there are some things you must know before start.

Step 1

Ensure you have bootable floppy disk or CD.

Step 2

Put in disk into PC, and turn it on. PC will boot to black screen showing only "A:>" prompt or prompt signifying drive you booted from. Also complete this by restarting PC with disk in drive.

Step 3

Type "format c: /s" and constrict "Enter." format progression now starts.

Step 4

Push "Y" for "Yes" when prompted "Are you sure you want to erase everything on drive c:," and then push "Enter."

Step 5

Take out disk, and restart PC. It will boot to "C:>" prompt from hard disk.
