Use VDYAD VirtualDub deinterlace filter 1.0 for this. VDYAD is deinterlacing plug-in for VirtualDub program. It applies good yadif deinterlace algorithm that do better than other deinterlacing methods.

For automatic deinterlacing for DVD, use MPlayer. There are many methods to accelerate playback of 1080 H.264 files in MPlayer. Use just included VDPAU output. It permits new Nvidia video cards to decode video without using CPU. It is in SVN MPlayer. MPlayer with new multithreaded FFmpeg-mt branch, which permits to utilize many cores/CPU.
