Thread: PC won't boot from CD/DVD drive

I am Installed Windows vista in my laptop. Right now I am planning to install Ubuntu on my system but when I try to boot from the CD solid black screen appears. I have changed my BIOs to have the CD/DVD drive as the first boot and still I put the CD in the drive, restart the computer and get a black screen. The CD drives spins up but nothing happens. There is no issue in CD drive I use regularly the primary hard disk and the disc works fine. What is wrong?

In fact this is a common issue when installing Ubuntu.

Download rawrite2.exe and sbm.bin. Place them both in the similar folder. Take a blank floppy, insert it in the floppy drive, and after that run rawrite2.exe. Take the floppy that this program makes, put it in the PC you are installing the Operating System on. Ensure your bios is booting to floppy. A menu will come up, choose CD-ROM, click enter, and walla, you will boot your CD.
