DVDs are a very accepted format for home entertainment. However, wide movie collections can occupy a lot of space. With digital video recorders and PC with recording capabilities becoming more and more trendy, many people are turning to digital copies stored on their PC's hard drive.
Instructions
• Download and install a media converter that supports DVD-to-MP4 conversions. If you choose a free program, press "Download Now". If you want to use a paid-version press "Buy Now" and go behind the on-monitors instructions to pay for the item.
• Save the file to the desktop and double-click it to unlock the installer. Go behind the on-monitor instructions to install the software. Reboot the PC once the installation is complete.
• Open the DVD-to-MP4 converter program. The program should be create either by a shortcut on the desktop or on the "All Programs" list in the Start menu. Place in the DVD disc you wish to be converted into the PC's DVD drive. Permit up to five minutes for the PC to identify the DVD. Use the programs on-screen interface to choose the DVD drive as the source and set the output as an MP4 file. Choose MP3 for the audio and select the highest BPS (bits per second) if you are prompted. Select a destination where you'd like the program to save your MP4 file. If you are unsure, choose the desktop for ease.
• Utilize the programs on-screen interface to start the conversion. Depending on the program, it might take up to two hours to stop the conversion process. Once complete, test the MP4 file by double-clicking it. Verify the conversion completed correctly and close the conversion program.
