Pioneer Electronics has worked commercial shipments of its latest optical disc recorder that helps Blu-ray disc XL standard and permits to burn media with up to 128GB memory. Surprisingly but the cost of the drive is not very high unlike the cost of extra large optical media. The drive is aimed primarily at those who require to achieve huge amounts of data.
Pioneer BDR-206MBK drive can playback and store on virtually all disc formats adding CD,DVD and Blu-ray disc in inclusion to BDXL media with 100GB or 128GB memory. The drive comes clubed with CyberLink software to help BDXL and is ready for use out of the box. For a less time Pioneer is adding a piece of BD-R XL 100GB media for free with every drive.

Currently the Blu-ray disc XL drive is intended for many commercial utility such as video and broadcast achieving and storage capturing and playback of big definition programming or data archiving required. Given extremely expensive media, 99 for a 100GB BD XL it least makes sense for home users to tranmit to BDXL but as the media gets less the generals will become adopted by the people.
