Kingston's OT400 is available in capacities ranging from 2 GB to 8 GB it boasts of read/ write speeds of 20 MB/sec and 10 MB/ sec respectively. We tested the 2 GB flash drive and found the rated speeds to be fairly accurate, but only when single files (large and small), are transferred. In fact, the speeds were a bit higher while transferring single files than when transferring multiple files to the drive, which resulted in a definite drop in performance.

If we compare the Kingston OT400 to the steady Corsair Flash Voyager 2 GB, the single file write speed is higher by 4 MB/sec but all other speeds trailed behind it. The graph below compares the OT400 to some drives tested by us.
The OT400 has a capless design, with a rubber and metal frame. It bundles a security utility called SecureTraveler (loaded on the drive itself).

The software creates a secure partition (which can only be accessed after running the software and entering a password) so that data can be loaded inside securely. The drawback of this software is that the partition can be deleted without a password. Another utility called MigoSync (also loaded on the drive) enables synchronizing data and e-mail from any computer to the flash drive in minutes. In addition, the drive is certified for Windows Vista and is supported by Windows ReadyBoost.

VERDICT: Reasonably priced, this drive is a handy for synchronizing data quickly.

FOR: Fast read and write speeds, capless design.

AGAINST: Not enough security provisions.
