Only final week, we afforded you a glimpse of what OCZ has in storage for the enterprise SSD market with our trailer of the Vertex three professional. Without affording away all of the juicy details, the Vertex three professional basically buried the competitor and offered functioning that was importantly more beneficial than any current-gen firm state repel. As we mentioned although, the Vertex three professional is an enterprise-class repel, and as such, it sports a cost tag outside of the realm of your typical PC enthusiast.
OCZ did hint that the “non-Pro” edition of the Vertex three was coming soon, still, and stated that it would be determined “importantly lower”.Well, here we are, only 1 week afterward and we’ve so soon got a beta Vertex three in hand for approximately initial testing. As you’ll assure in the specs downstairs, the upcoming Vertex three looks evenly as impressive as the Vertex three professional in terms of if characteristics and expected functioning, but what’s more stimulating is that it’ll be cost more in-line with current SSDs.
The OCZ Vertex three repel you assure image here is a 240GB model (224MB formatted) outfitted with sixteen parts of Micron NAND flash, entirely 256GB—the additional capacity is over provisioned for wear leveling, information security, and other functions. The controller on the repel is the SandForce SF-2281, and differs from the 2582 on the professional version in a few paths.
The SF-2582 controller extends a few more characteristics not useable on the SF-2281, similar additional flash defend (eMLC and SLC specifically), SMART characteristics, higher MTBF on the controller, more beneficial unrecoverable bit fault read (UBER) rating, as well as adding the power loss information security characteristics which is augmented by the super-cap.
