AMD'S release of the Dragon platform is setting the market on fire. The Dragon platform combines the power of AMD's high performing Phenom II X4 series processors, 7 series chipsets and ATI 4800 series graphics which is known to be a gamer's paradise.
To add to the trend of this platform, Cooler Master released their Sniper PC case to complete the enthusiast's thirst for a complete gaming rig.
The Sniper is a neat, macho looking black PC case. The top of the case has the texture that is similar to an armadillo and houses a massive 200 mm exhaust fan beneath it. The top of the bezel has the easy-to-reach control panel which is well designed with all the I/O ports neatly aligned. The control panel contains the regular feature of the power and reset button, the audio ports, four USB ports and an eSATA and FireWire 400 port each. Additionally, there is a fan cum fan-light controller which controls the RPM and lights of up to five fans inside the chassis. The case bundles two massive, red LED illuminated, 200 mm fans-one on the top as the exhaust and the other in the front as intake which efficiently helps cooling hard drives.
Additionally, a 120 mm exhaust fan on the rear helps in efficient cooling of the internal components. A provision for adding an additional 120 mm fan on the bottom for additional intake of cool air is provided. Provisions for installing water cooling kits are available, and in case a radiator needs to be installed, the top 200 mm fan needs to be removed.
The power supply sits at the bottom of the case, making it easy to access the inside of the cabinet in case of a breakdown.
Build Quality
It is a superbly built rugged PC case with enough room to build up a massive rig supporting up to five 3.5-inch hard drives and five optical drives.
The case incorporates a complete screw-less design with a removable hard drive cage. The front bezel has a tough look with a metal grill along with dust filters. The case stands sturdy with a good, rubberized, foldable stand which can be protruded outwards to prevent the cabinet from tipping on the sides. The metal used is of very good quality and has absolutely no sharp edges.
Finally, the left side panel has a transparent acrylic window with AMD's ATI and Fusion logo printed on it and creates an awe-factor for the Dragon platform.
