    Default Novatium Navigator

For the users on the go, manufacturers have come up with netbooks, but what . about for those that want to use a desktop solution just for the internet. That's where nettops come into play. Nettops are computers that perform the most basic tasks such as surfing the internet, basic audio and video playback, and document processing. The Novatium Navigator is one such nettop.

The cabinet is compact and fits an Intel G945CLF mini-ITX form factor motherboard. When placed vertically, the ' I5OW power supply, custom made to fit into the cabinet, is' mounted on the top.

There is a choice of operating systems that needs to be made before purchase; either a custom made Linux OS for the Navigator or Windows XP Professional before you purchase this.

With the Linux OS, it takes around 100 seconds to start up, excluding logging in time. The desktop of this OS is really clustered and there is alsoan Ad banner present on the bottom on the screen. You have four sections on the desktop: Internet, Documents, Games and Utilities. Applications such as Skype, Ebuddy, Radio and Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox has also been modified to fit the Navigator, but it hasn't been executed very well. It looks like Firefox has been cut, the Help menu on the menubar is missing, each menu on the menubar does not have a border and looks really bad. One really big problem we see with this OS is that you can't download any word, excel or powerpoint file formats as there is nothing installed that can view them. The only thing available under Documents is a PDF viewer. Most of the games are flash games that are access through the browser as they have been stored on local. One really irritating thing about this OS is that everything you open is in full screen mode and there is no way to even minimize these windows.

The Navigator OS does not support all printers, infact it only supports the HP brand of printers, which again will be a problem if you have anything other than HP.

    Default Nova Navigator

As far as my experience is concerned I really love this product..
Firstly, the start up is quite fast not 100 seconds or watever,
Secondly, they gave open office by default, so I was able to open files using OO
Thirdly, the supported my Canon LBP2900 printer thus it is a wrong claim when it is said that only HP printers are supported....
Finally, it is very easy to use

I don't see any future in investing in this company or product whatsoever. It is bound to fail and everyone should wake up on this truth quickly. Google is competing with Apple's iPhone and companies like Novatium has no chance. On April 2010, Google acquired LabPixies, a leading developer of personalized web gadgets "widgets" including iGoogle, Android and the iPhone. I remember, Novatium was planning to
raise a $10-million (approximately Rs 47 crore) growth fund during last quarter. I guess they have succeeded persuading few investors by showing some useless patents and fake stock hype. Just take their Intel G945CLF mini-ITX from Intel and put Linux on it. You will get thousand times better services at the same price... 'Navigator' is just a restricted desktop and you pay Novatium just for maintaining these restrictions... and I don't know why... I can't install my own apps... it has it's own ugly apps you are bound to use, it eats up bandwidth like nobody's business... I returned the product... what a conspiracy!
