Some older notebooks don't have an Express Card slot, but that needn't mean missing out on the latest devices. Novatel Wireless makes an adapter that enables many Express Card 34 cards to be slotted into an older Cardbus slot. Desktop users needn't be left out, either, as its Express Card to USB adapter allows most Express Card 34 devices to be added to any desktop computer with a USB port.
Alternatively, desktop computer users can add Express Cards neatly to the back of their PC using an add-on card such as Startech's adapter. This fits into a PCI Express slot on the computer's motherboard, and enables users to slot Express Card devices into the back as if they had a notebook computer. Before buying any adapter, remember to check that it will support the cards you want to use.
