Thread: AverMedia Tuner card not detected by XP SP3

My AverMedia TV Tuner card Is not working. Its warranty does not exist anymore. Also Windows XP SP3 does not detect It. When I try to Install Its software, it also gives the error message prompting me to Install the tuner card first. Please help me to solve this Issue? My Windows and computer hardware seems to be all right. The problem is only In the card. What should I do?

As you have mentioned that the tuner card is a problem, there is very little that you can do from your side. You can try cleaning the contact points with an eraser or very fine grade sandpaper. Finally, carefully clean the contacts and the entire card using Isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. Be careful and use the brush gently and do not apply any pressure or force to avoid breaking any delicate components. Once the card is completely dry, check if the card works on the computer. Alternatively also try the card on another computer to check if the card works fine. If it works on another computer, then there could be a problem with your computer's motherboard, else the card is faulty. You should buy a new one as repairing the card would be almost impossible or can be expensive too. Check with your computer dealer and find out if the card can be repaired. I would advise opting for a new card.
