Flow router is used when you need more network links on your network. It's also used when you desire to add wireless ability to your local region network. You can attach a Linksys router to an existing router such as a D-Link using an Ethernet connection to the uplink port.

Instructions

• Log off your D-link router. During this time, the machines linked to the router do not access the network or Internet.

• Connect the Ethernet cable to one of the ports on the Linksys. Ports are labeled with numeric values starting with the number one. The Ethernet cable can be linked in any of these ports. Attach the other end of the Ethernet cable to the "Uplink" port on the D-Link. Power on both routers.

• Open your web browser on a PC attached to the Linksys. Enter the Linksys IP address into the navigation text box. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1. Press the "Setup" tab to arrange your Linksys settings.

• Choose "Disabled" in the part labeled "DHCP Server." Only one DHCP server can be obtainable on the network, and because the D-Link is by now the main entry, it distributes IP addresses to the network.

• Type an IP address for the router in the text box labeled "Local IP address." This gives a static IP to the router, so it leftovers the same even when the router is powered off. Press "Apply" to save your changes. The PCs attached to the Linksys can now communicate with the D-Link router and browse the network.
