Thread: Non persistent group policy

Does anybody know how to allot the default homepage by group policy with none persistent option. It means: I want to allocate homepage to client PC once, and after that they can change the homepage by themselves. It won't change back once run gpupdate /force or restart their computer.

There are 2 possible methods to allocate the default page non-persistent:

Method 1:

• Use Group Policy Preferences

• There you can set Options that can be overwritten by the user and that aren't set back to the GPP Setting

• For Windows XP Clients you require an update KB943729

Method 2:

• Modify the setting directly in the registry; I didn't check if this works for IE8 also.

• Here you only require a script that checks if it was already run for this computer and User.
