The main intention of the inverter is essentially to give power to the back light. The way it works is easy, it brings power from the laptop itself by a small inverter direct that runs from the motherboard of the laptop, sometime it is a directly lead on it own, other times this lead can be linked into the inverter by the LCD cable , allowing the screen its visible display.

At one end of the inverter, normally the left end, the conduct that gives it power is Connect into a small white socket and from the other end, generally the right side, the back light lead from the screen is connect into some other white socket. The back light is a very small, slim, long, very hard light bulb that runs along the very bottom or sometimes the side of the screen.

The problems referred to the inverter is dimness or darkness to the screen in most cases or shining of the back light. Sometimes it can stop the screen form working at all but not normally. A usual fault with laptop screens is a dark or dim screen, usually it is accepted that it is the back light that is at fault, sometimes this may be right, however more often or not it is just the inverter not working, or not giving the back-light the power it needs. The inverter is normally cheaper to replace than the back light, as the back light is very delicate and can be well broken. On some chances a repair of the inverter is possible, though generally labor charges on determining the inverter can sometimes lead up to being more costly than just replacing it.
