The new flash memory device represents the smallest NAND, the highest volume so far of the industry, the company said. A leaked presentation slide Tuesday 08.16.2010 also showed that Intel is increasing capacity for solid state disk (SSD) up to 600GB through their use of memory chip with double the capacity current devices.

Slide says that using 25nm technology, Intel will increase the capacity of the SSD lines for consumers from the X25-M 80GB, 160GB to 160GB now, 300GB and 600GB.According to this slide, Intel also plans to double the capacity of low-level SSD X25-V (the target market for netbook and tablet) from the current 40GB to 80GB. 3-bit/cell NAND flash chips are targeted for flash memory cards, USB drives and MP3 players. The SSD of the two companies continue to use NAND flash and 1-bit/cell 2-bit/cell.

New NAND flash chip is a combination of the two MLC NAND flash technologies (multi-level cell) keep the 2-bits per cell NAND Flash and SLC (single-level cell), holding 1-bit/cell.
