Default Screen resolution does not fit

I have a problem with the resolution of my monitor my monitor is an LG Flatiron E2240S has only VGA input but I bought a DVI to VGA adapter so that it can connect to the card is an ATI HD 5850 and that the decision not go beyond 1400x1050 lso update drivers and install all the drivers that comes with the monitor nothing happens and nothing does not increase the resolution of 1920x1080.

That if you are going to look bad if my monitor when connected to analog at 1680x1050 is horrible. I hope it solves your problem but at that resolution there is no valid front than DVI / HDMI D-Sub

There is something wrong according to the specs of the monitor. The maximum resolution supported is 1920x1080 and 1920x1080 analog digital .you should not have that problem
