Thread: Power wanted for gtx470/480 and gtx285ocx

I am designing to purchase some other video card but I require keeping my bfg gtx285 ocx as a phyxs card. The card will either be a gtx470 or the gtx480 looking if my current PSU can supply the wanted energy. My actual PSU is the tagan 900w. Do you believe I will be able to power up my system?

I think your present PSU is adequate for everything.

I have a 950w enemax and with a 480+5450+980x i never checked my killawatt achieving 600w with my setup totally loaded.

A 480 will consume some 260 watts in normal gaming mode and over 300 when fur marked. Over clocking will contribute some. A 285 coed will likely eat several 175-185 watts or maybe 200.lets add several 200-300 more for the remain of the system.

Perhaps it's simply me but a GTX285 factory coed for PHYSX is way exertion isn't it? I think treatments contributing to the fact that more is not forever better when physX arrives into play.

I question if it would be better to simply sell the card and install a 240GT or something of that universe for PHYSX working for lower power draw less heat in the case and all.

The 285 won't be totally loaded as a physx card or a gaming load either and yes it's completely capability.

I checked several graphs about power use on...200 series i think something like 50% but i don't think if it was founded on total fur mark load or standard gaming mode.

Throw GPU's that are less effective than a 285 at Mafia II w Max Phys X changed and you'll understand there is nothing exertion at all utilizing a 280/285 as committed PhysX card. Why sell it simply to change with a cheaper Phys X Card that doesn't execute as well.

no require to relate over the heat being gave by the 285 as PhysX committed because it doesn't have any place near the similar load as it would have as dedicated GPU.Way less power intake n way less heat rendered.
