If the only thing preventing you from using a particular ink/paper combination is the lack of a profile, you can get someone to produce one for you. A custom profile is, in any case, likely to be more accurate than a generic one, so if you've tried everything else this is a worthwhile final resort.

Companies that provide this service send you (or you can download) a test pack of calibrated charts. You print these out and mail them back to the company, which then analyses them with a spectrophotometer to produce your profile.
