Xerox's workshop 6505/DN extends excellent velocity and print quality than many colour laser multifunction printer device we have expect, for a well mid range cost. It possesses full of the strong characteristic of the Xerox Phaser 6500 standalone printer machine on which it is founded, but too the one notable flaw: costly toner.

The WorkCentre 6505 was simple to set up. Different the similarly costs Oki MC561, it allowed scanning across our network right out of the box. The printer supports together Universal Serial Bus and ethernet. The control panel is good laid out, and we had no trouble realizing the menu structure or navigating by the several choice.

The Xerox MFP's paper-handling characteristic add a 250-sheet paper cassette with a manual-feed slot and a 150-page output tray. An optional second 250-sheet input tray prices additional. The unit has a letter/A4-size scanner platen, and the 35-page automatic file feeder accepts up to legal-size files. Scanning by the ADF is simplex just, but duplex printing and copying are standard. With the 6505's somewhat more cammon, cousin, the Xerox WorkCentre 6505/N, duplexing is manual and is in build just by the PCL driver.

Speed is a highlight of the workshop 6505. Its 533MHz processor and 256 megabyte of RAM give it more than sufficient power to serve a typical work group. Plain-text pages and our monochrome newsletter exited at a range of only over 15.1 pages each minute on the computer and at 14.3 ppm on the Mac. On the Computer, snapshot photos came at a quicker-than-average range of 3 ppm at default circumstance on plain paper and at a slower-than average 1.4 ppm at excellent circumstance on glossy paper. A complete-size picture printed on the Mac took a hair below 2 min to emerge.

Print, scan, and copy examples from the workshop 6505 deviated from pleasing to disappointing. Not surprisingly, content output was flawless. Picture output was excellent than we have look from most colour laser and LED printer, with practical (though slightly light) colouring, and mild background graininess and banding. Colour copies were too good. Monochrome scans were so crisp. Colour scans, however, inclined to be murky and fuzzy-appearing.

The Xerox WorkCentre 6505/DN extends workgroup requires competently in many ways, which creates its high toner prices and other shortcomings entire the more dissatisfactory.
