Default Overclocking the Athlon XP processor

    Hello friends.

First of all I apologize if this topic has already been touched, and ask if there is a link I do know ... I do not find. Mother I have a XFX Chipset Via KT400 ALH BIOS Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG 02/24/2003-KT400-8235-6A6LYP89C-00 KT40ALHI.B15 FOR KT400-ALH, Micro Athlon xp2000 + Thoroughbred-B, cooler Titan 5 memories DDR400 MHz x 1Gb.

I understand this model gives a lot of micro, so I do not want to waste it. The single mother from the bios to change the FSB and RAM frequency. I can not change the CPU voltage and problem in gaining stability. I tell them, for those not familiar with this mother who has 3 jumper positions to allow the FSB in the first line but I did not make me a terrible under clocking (I think it says so) is one which is micro-defect that is 133, and another that leads to a 166 fsb. If I put the jumper in the latter, I take an Athlon XP 2600 + at 2075 MHz, but with voltage of 1.6 volts, and memos automatically at 333. This is not a problem, the machine works quite well, but it sometimes crashes, and is not subject to temperature, because the cabinet is well ventilated 8024 and I put my cpu idle low as 10 degrees. On the Windows desktop or with simple applications nothing happens, but after playing around Carbon or Most Wanted, it may crash. Probe also raise the fsb bios, placing the jumper on 133 and I say again, from the management changes range from there up to 165. It is less stable than making it work in 2600 +.

What do you recommend? There a way to raise the voltage of the processor?

    Thank you very much!

Very old pieces... OC was good, yes, but heating now, it was good OC pa with reference to the time since it came after the A64 q gave 40% OC easy, and those that give 50% C2D Also ... Too bad you do not have a Mobile ... Now, I do not see how someone could help you clear your plate because it restricts a lot ... you could try downloading another bios ... checks are AGP and PCI slots, I think it nforce2 socket just to ... I doubt that fences to gain much performance in games by OC, So if you find it does not matter ... but I do not see much that he can do ...

Thanks for responding. Despite being a machine a bit out of fashion, with very good results with overclock ... Functions as well as a 2600 + and the difference was even more Asus GForce 6600. Carbon can play without problems. Beyond that, I was very limited mother, but there was some way to manage the CPU voltage, and obvious, think about updating the bios, and the only place where I can do is pay, and sincerely want to avoid. I can help where I can download a BIOS update?

With respect to temperature, if it is heater! But with a cooler than stock and with a well-ventilated cabinet no great complication, but if we add the CPU-Idle.

Thank you very much again, I hope your answer.

How to find until the OC is not worth buying coolers ... OC that is difficult ... I doubt a BIOS update that will add options for Vcore ... google search on your motherboard, motherboard + bios ... or just looking for a site that is a "directory" of all the changes ... there are bios for all motherboards for all T. Videos, etc ...

I think the only option you can do is update the bios, but if you ask for someone to get the updates delivered to your bios do not think that will help you if you say your comments and how to reach your overclock as most of us had different sites to dig for some updates.

In my case I have a 2000 + processor with board which has already enabled the option to raise the multiplier and the fsb voltage Vcore% increase in management and latencies for the memories.

I got my processor without special if not cooler than the factory. Change it in bios leave it in 184 * 12.5 and voltage with a Vcore of 1.8% and 3 runs super good to me 2300 MHz is not heated and took about 3 years.

Practices and everything with this band called overclockers luck and maybe find your Updated or any program to help you on your operating system and thus can increase the voltage.
