Default Overclocking ATI graphics cards with original drivers to avoid damage

There are times when you cannot enjoy the graphics performance of gaming on your PC due to the limitations of your wallet. Nevertheless, if you do own an ATI graphics card, you can overclock it safely within reasonable limits. With this, you can enjoy games with slightly more detail and at higher resolutions at the same time.

The graphics card's performance does not playa major role for most PCs. However, if you still wish to play the latest 3D games on your ageing computer, you have to purchase an efficient graphics card. Here, users who love playing games tend to shell out amounts for which one can get a whole PC! If you opt for the ATI brand of graphics cards, then you might get a lot more than expected. The current ATI driver allows easy overclocking without the risk of the hardware getting damaged.

To start experimenting with overclocking, update the graphics card driver. Now open 'Avivo Video' section in the Driver Control Panel and then the 'AT I Overdrive' item here. You can¬activate the overclocking function by clicking the key icon at the top left corner. Click on 'Test Custom Clocks ..; which starts an automated test that explores the hardware limits of your graphics card step by step. Once the test is over, you can determine the future performance level of your graphics card yourself using the 'Auto-Tune' function.

Note: In case the ATI overclocking tool crashes, it switches back (even in the middle of a game) to the default values and thus protects the hardware from getting damaged.
