Thread: When an Overclocked Quad Core becomes a Dual core

I just decided to overclock my q6600 from 2.4ghz to 3.2 GHz here’s the amusing part, I have it right now steady at 3.1ghz but if I overclock it too 3.2ghz

I only see 2 cores.... what has gone immoral here.... if it was power I would have BSOD.

My specifications are as follow:

What software application are you using that says there are only 2 cores?

I use software’s like Everest, Some sidebar application, Windows task manager, as well as prime95

When you overclock your CPU to the exact clock, your cores will shut down one by one. That most time takes part in quad core CPU. To allow all cores and contain same clock, you have to increase voltage.

I think this is presently for AMD quads. But yeah, I would boost the voltage.
