Overclocking: To force a computer to run at higher clockspeeds, beyond the stock settings.if you overclock, then only 3 possible scenarios: it will be either very damaging (permanently), very rewarding (successful overclocking), or simple BSOD or unstable computer. You cant overclock a laptop, even if you do, it will overheat like crazy and it will shutdown. Not recommended doing with laptops, desktops are better for overclocking. I still dont recommend overclocking either of them because its NOT user friendly nor safe.

Overclocking is running you CPU or GPU at faster than its rated speed to improve performance. It's typically done on desktops more than laptops. On a laptop, you would need a dedicated GPU (not one that uses shared memory) to begin with, and you would need to see whether the utilities available for that graphics processor allow overclocking through software.

Over clocking on a laptop isn't advisable. The only time people do significant overclocking on their computers is usually when they have invested in good and effective cooling products for their desktop computers. For instance, large CPU fans, fans for RAM, custom fans for the video cards, better air flow through the case, or liquid cooling in some cases. On a laptop, heat is an issue even with stock parts running at stock settings, so really overclocking isn't advisable unless you have someway of effectively cooling the laptop's internal parts.

Overclocking is tweaking your hardware to perform faster than the manufacturer's warranty will allow. Overclocking has it's risk. If you tweak it too much for the hardware to cope, the hardware will basically fry out.Overclocking a GPU (graphics processing unit) in a laptop does inprove the processing speed of graphics but it does not improve the graphics itself (eg. you can't overclock your GPU to process lighting, rain effects etc. when it is incapable of doing so.)If you look into YouTube you can actually find peole who overclock their processor so much that they need liquid nitrogen to cool the beast.

overclocking, basically pushes the chips/cards to the limit. It does this buy running more voltage to the Cpu (processor) memory or Graphics, there are many sites that will show you how to do this, try googling overclocking its easy and you can get at little more power out of your computer doing this. However manifacturers condem you doing this as, the components get hot, i mean really hot. So there is a chance you could burn out something. I would not recomend you do this on a laptop though. As you cannot add water cooling or extra fans so you WILL burn something out. try here for more info though: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-to-overclock-t11177.html

Over Clocking is changing your Processor speed to get max performance from the processor in your PC's BIOS, I can not see it helping your Graphics system

Unless the computer has been designed for over clocking do not do it as you will damage the computer. One example of a laptop that has been designed for over clocking is the Dell xps 1730 with the 2. 8 GHZ processor installed. The processor alone costs according to Dell £640

What you want is easier done in desktops with retail or enthusiast motherboards or on discrete graphics cards. Overclocking is overspeeding the CPU or the GPU. Doing either or both improves frame rates in most games. Most makers ensure you would not be able to do overclocking in a laptop.
