Ok, I finally determined to upgrade from my very old Pentium D 805 and get a Q8400 Quad core. I have been reading how hot they get and how hard it is to cool them and over clock them with good temps w/o water. After getting a new case (NZXT Lexa S) and the new cup properly mounted on my motherboard (Gigabyte EP45-UD3P) I fired her up and was reading approximately 22-23c Idle . Even while put a load or prime 95ing it only got concerning 42c MAX. Currently as a heat sink, I am using a Zelman cnp9500 with AS5 and it workings beautiful well but it on no account ran my D 805 this low. I am using about 1.3 volts on the cup and don’t even include the fan at full power. I even have it O/Ced at 3.7Ghz and am at present at 21c. Is it possible I got lucky and got a really high-quality chip that runs actually cool or could it be a bad sensor in the chip or w/e. I just really hope it’s not aflame up at about 70 when it says 21c. My motherboard has never had a difficulty with temp and says the temp both beneath bios and program.
