Default AMD Phenom 2 In-Depth Function Scaling examination

As you likely already have observed, Madshrimps did not issue an article considering the Phenom II's function in comparison to competitive products. There are 2 chief reasons: on one hand, we just got our Phenom 2 example a some days later the product establish, which means that most hardware reviewing websites already had an article considering the Phenom 2. Ours would only have been now another' comparison and would just serve to confirm all we already familiar. On the other hand, we had the possibility to try the widely hyped overclockability of the processor and assure if the rumors about 6GHz were indeed fact.

We were really surprised through the best overclocking scaling of the Phenom 2 X4 940 on LN2! As you may or might not familiar, our retail sample went beyond 6GHz rather simply and there was absolutely no sign of any coldbug.

Different its predecessor, the Phenom 2 (too referred to as Ph-2) is indeed meant for overclocking ... well, very overclocking. In 24/7 configurations, it is even so hard to reach 4GHz balance on common air cooling, which does not match the recent C2D overclocking capabilities.

We already had a peek at the overclocking function scaling of the Phenom 1. In the content, you were capable to find out that the processor frequency had the largest effect in process, which is pretty obvious, and that overclocking the IMC frequency is really rather interesting to acquire the absolute most out of your device. Since we acquired a lot of positive feedback about the first content, we did the exact similar for the Phenom 2. In this write-up, you will find out what's the effect of every overclocking variable function-wise.

In Intel-condition, the HT Link frequency is rather same to the FSB: assuming care of the communication among processor and Northbridge, which characteristics for instance the PCIe lanes, sata slots and sound support. The quicker the link among processor and Northbridge, the more information can be transferred among both and, in theory, the higher the function will be.
