My fan died yesterday trying to change the generic cable. As evidenced by what was positive and negative signal and began to smell a burnt circuit, after many attempts at resuscitation was declared dead after more than 4 years of service carries with him nearly an AMD K6 only heated as hell.

Get a new fan and give it a decent life in that old.
That bad, you should seek a replacement pure and holy burial to the late XD.
I have a box where I have several of these fans, as they sell are just pure crap generic scratch are I prefer to buy and adapt a pa k7, there are several that change the clip works perfectly and is far better to throw out the silver in a generic besides being super noisy (sounds like motor car) is not very cool.
Better to buy a new one used to wear.
Sell new brand socket 7 or something like that I think is not connected to the board if the source is super good and I purchase a pa to fix an old pc and it works flawless and is far better to be buying Fans of these unbranded generic sounding motor car than I have several lying there because I do not serve much but if anyone would be interested in selling super cheap.
Another option is to buy a cooler and get the fan flayte, usually those k6 I used a fan of 40x40 or do what it says, remove the retention clip of the old and the new heat sink placed.
Greetings.
