Thread: Power supply help please

I am buying an Intel Quad Core Q9550 2.83 GHz processor for my Intel DG35EC motherboard, 2x 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM and 250 GB HDD. I am also buying a Geforce 9800GTX 512 MB graphics card. I want to buy an SMPS for this configuration. What should its power specifications be?

Depending on other peripherals that could be in your cabinet, your ideal power supply rating will differ. If you have only what you specified, a 600 Watt power supply would be fair enough. Additional power might be required if your cabinet has too many fans and if you have many hard drives.

If you want to be sure that your system has enough power even after installing additional fans and hard drives, opt for an 800 Watt power supply, or else a 600 Watt power supply would definitely suffice. Always opt for a good power supply. Cooler Master, Titan Huntkey, Antec and Tagan are some of th good power supply manufacturers.
