What your computer looks to receive from the power grid (in the United States) is 120-volt AC ability oscillating at 60 Hertz (see How Power Distribution Grids function for more data). A computer can tolerate slight deviations from this spec, but a important difference will cause the computer's power supply to go wrong. A UPS commonly secure a PC against 4 different power trouble:
