Inkiet printers are more efficient than dot matrix printers. Just as dot matrix printers, inkiet printers too have printhead but inkiet's printhead does not have metal pins that come out from the printhead. Instead, the inkiet's printhead has many tiny nozzles that spray ink onto the paper. Each nozzle is thinner than human hair.



One of the great advantages of inkiet printers is that its printhead includes the nozzles and reservoir for ink. When the ink runs out, replace the entire printhead. The inkiet printer's printhead is known as the print cartridge. An inkiet cartridge has 50 or more nozzles instead of 9, 18 or 24 metal pins configuration that a dot matrix printer has. That is the reason why printing quality of inkiet printer is better than dot matrix printer. Furthermore, every time the printer cartridge is replaced, the printer gets a new printhead.
