A laser printer comes with two trays to feed papers. However, certain printer manufactures offer three trays. You can use anyone tray at a time for printing. The feeding capacity of each tray varies from each other. For example, you can feed maximum 200 sheets in Tray 3 but in Tray 2 you can feed 500 pages. Let us now learn how we can use different trays of a laser printer for printing.

Printing from Tray 1

Undertake the following steps to print from Tray l.

1. Open Tray 1 by pulling the front cover down.

1. Slide out the plastic tray extender. If the paper being loaded is longer than 9 inches. open the additional tray extender.

3. Slide the paper width guides slightly wider than the media.

4. Place paper into the tray. The paper should be centered between the paper width guides and under the tabs on the paper width guides.

5. Slide the paper width guides inward until they lightly touch the media stack on both sides without bending it. Make sure the paper fits under the tabs on the paper width guides. Now you can start printing pages from this tray 1.

Printing from Tray 2

Undertake the following steps to print from Tray 2.

1. Pull the desired tray out of the printer and remove any paper.

2. Move the side width guides outward to match the desired paper size.

3. On the rear paper length guide, press on the blue tab and adjust it so that the pointer matches the desired paper size.

4. Add the media and make sure that it is flat in the tray at all four corners. Keep the media below the height tabs on the paper length guide in the rear of the tray .

6. Slide the tray back into the printer. Tray 2 is ready for print now.

Printing from Tray 3

Undertake the following steps to print from Tray 3.

1. Pull the tray out of the printer and remove paper from it, if any.

2. To adjust for letter-size paper, pull up on the rear stop, or to adjust for A4-size paper, push the rear paper stop down.

4. For letter-size paper, move the side width guides outward as far as possible, or for A4-size paper, move the side width guides inward as far as possible.

5. Add papers and rylake sure that they are flat in the tray. Keep papers below the hooks on the side and rear of the tray.

6. Slide the tray back into the printer.
