    Default Make printed text bigger

Recently I printed the guide to copying a VHS video to DVD from Computeractive's website. It's for a friend, who's not up to date with technology and would appreciate it. But when I saw the size ofthe print, 1 found that the text was far too small for him. Can 1 increase the font size when printing pages?

As with many simple questions, the answer is not quite so simple. You can increase
the text size on-screen, but that won't affect how it comes out on the page. If you're using the Firefox browser, you can make the text and images bigger when you print the page (click File, then Print Preview and select a number from the dropdown list marked Scale - choose more than 100 per cent to scale it up). However, this may cut off some of the text at the side.

Perhaps the best way to make sure the text is the right size is to copy it into a word processor such as Microsoft Word. To do so, place your mouse pointer at the beginning of the article, then left-click the mouse. Keeping it held down, move to the bottom¬right of the article and it will highlight all the text. When the entire text is highlighted, click the Edit menu, then Copy. Now open your word processor and click Edit, then Paste, and the article will be pasted into the word processor (in Word, you can select Paste Special, then Unformatted Text to get a better¬looking document).

You can then change the text size of the article in the same way as you would for any other word processing document, and print it from there. Do remember that if it is a multi-page article, you'll have to repeat the above for each page, moving to the end of the Word document each time and pasting the next page in.
